Talk About is a platform that brings the innovative ideas of future leaders to the current leaders of today. We do this through:
Our Community of Young People:
Our national community of Talk About Contributors create content ranging from vlogs, live streams with sector-specific specialists and jargon busters all the way to written articles about careers and insights into emerging technology. Aged between 16-30, our Contributors showcase their interest in politics, law, finance, the environment, health and the world of business. We create safe spaces for young people who come from all walks of life to come together, get inspired and equipped with the networks and knowledge they need to create the changes they want to see in the world.
Working with corporates, educational institutions, charities and other organisations through designing and delivering bespoke workshops, live debates and exclusive ends. At the heart of each project lies our belief that the best ideas come when the entrepreneurial nature of youth is met with the experience of seasoned professionals. Our partners enable us to be able to support our community of future leaders.
Hosting public events designed to get people talking about global issues, learning from each other and developing solutions. Some of these events are live streamed so you can enjoy them from wherever you are!
Our Five Guiding Principles:
1. Change the face of current affairs.
2. Build a broad information platform that young people can rely on and return to.
3. Report factual and useful information.
4. Work with a young person is just as important as work with a well-known public figure.
5. Make the complex, simple (always).
Our mission is to create the UK's largest youth platform for current affairs that is constantly evolving, growing and engaging. We are determined to support our Contributors so they can showcase their knowledge and interest in their chosen area while helping other students and young professionals stay up to date with the world around them. We want to make current affairs more accessible for everyone while increasing career aspirations for young people who come from disadvantaged households and communities. An example of how we do this is through live streaming some of our events and our 'Talk About Ideas' podcast on Instagram and Twitter. Maximising on our social media use ensures that a young person from Leeds doesn't have to worry about the cost of getting to and from a Talk About event in Birmingham. Instead they can tune in from wherever they are and be part of the conversation!
