We are determined to support young people from the onset. We do this through designing and delivering bespoke skills and careers workshops in schools, colleges and universities.
We design and deliver a series of interactive “Talk About Careers” workshops designed for those in secondary and further education. The workshops aim to increase career aspirations, build soft skills and draw links with today’s political climate, changing labour market and technological innovation. We aim to include industry specialists, current university students and corporate organisations in a range of ways throughout the delivery of our workshops. Talk About Careers workshops are designed specifically to support schools in meeting Benchmark Two of the Gatsby Benchmarks, which is as follows: "Learning from careers and labour market information: Every learner, and their parents, should have access to good quality information about future study options and labour market opportunities. It needs to be appropriate to their needs. Finding reliable information about the local and national labour market is vital to inform good-quality information about jobs and career paths. Access to up-to-date career and labour market information (LMI) is also important for social mobility." The some of the aims of the workshop series are to increase understanding and development of soft skills, increase students' self-awareness of their skill-set and capabilities, introduce students to possible career journeys and paths they can embark on and provide Independent Advice and Guidance by young people and careers consultants. The most important elements of our bespoke in school workshops are the fact that they are flexible as we can tailor them to meet the needs of your students. They are designed and delivered by young people and young professionals. The benefit of this is that it is peer to peer learning. Your students will get a perspective on careers from young people who were in their shoes not too long ago as well as the added benefits of industry specialists. Available Workshops 2019 - 2020: Workshop 1: Where can my options lead me? Workshop 2: Life after secondary school? Workshop 3: Introduction to Current Affairs Workshop 4: STEM Game Workshop 5: What would you do? Each workshop has a range of topics that it can be used to cover for example, the STEM game could explore computer science and coding during one session and then explore medicine during another session. Another example is how the Introduction to Current Affairs workshop can explore different topics such as climate change and what contributes to our carbon footprint or what is trade and why do countries do it. All current affairs and politics sessions will be nonpartisan and be focused on understanding the topics in order to equip the students with the skills they need to ace interviews and take advantage of opportunities that come their way. We are able to charge schools £50 per workshop lasting for an hour. The regular value of our workshops starts from £85 per workshop however, we are able to subsidise the cost to schools due to kind contributions made by the corporate organisations we work with as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. The cost of workshops can also discounted as a package if booking multiple workshops in one go.
